THE VERY LAST OF IT
« Previous Main Next »

well, well, well. here i am. the very last holiday item i had planned is this evening. i remember when i sat at my favorite coffee shop in early september with my printed computer calendars made or scheduling, long lists for each part of the season and mostly, big ideas! and now, here i am. at the very end of the busy '07 holiday season. i made it!!
yes. having your own business is so rewarding. you make your own schedule; you do things the way you want to do them; you aren't responsible to anyone but yourself. i love these bits. that said, yeah, it's tough-as-nails work! you should see my hands from working with all of the paper for months now, i have no idea what sort of hand cream is going to make this better?! but, friends, i love what i do. there. i said it. it's not even about 'letterpress printing'; it's really more about creating, my hands making something and sending it out to people who like it ... who are even moved by it perhaps. i promise i'll never take that for granted. i just can't wait to show you what i have in store for 2008! ... after a month off of course.
oh and the item above is my 'twinkle' gift bag which comes with tissue & ribbon. i'll have 26 of them at tonight's sale. *such* a limited edition! smile. if there are any left you'll find them in my shop tomorrow.
well wishes to you, friends.
cheers! maria

You are so very talented. And I'm so glad that you are finding running your own business rewarding. I just started on my own last spring and while I provide services rather than products I feel like my creative life has improved ten-fold ever since. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas for the next year. Enjoy your vacation.

I totally agree. Peter started his own "company", a retail brand consultancy, in August, and its been nothing short of life-changing. Here at home, with kids in and out, we all couldn't be happier. Have fun tonight!

Aqueous cream is the best for chapped hands! I'm not sure if it has the same name in the states as here in the uk...but if you put a heavy application on with gloves over the top before sleep you will wake up with refreshed hands!

what an inspiring post. i love that you love what you do so much! as for the beaten up hands: i make my own hand creams (i can't use anything else anymore!) out of shea butter, jojoba oil, almond oil, apricot kernel oil, glycerin, aloe gel, and rose oil. Let me know if you want a recipe and I'll send it to you! It's DIVINE...... and works beautifully for dry skin!!

I don't know if you have it in the States, but The Body Shop Hemp hand cream is THE BEST.
I'm a bartender, and if it can fix my hands, it can fix anyone's.
Congrats on getting through the holiday season intact and sane!
I've been lurking for a long time, and thought it was about time I came out to say hello....
Cheers,
Leah xx

bath and body works 'look ma new hands'. the name is just silly but the product is fabulous. it smells so clean and fresh and contains avocado, apricot, and olive oil (i'm reading the back as i type this) along with paraffin to lock in the moisture. it's actually a little heavy due to the paraffin but it's so lovely to put on before bed or after a shower. i suspect that bath and body works simply repackages a great german spa brand and sells it as their own because unlike all of the other products at that shop (which are manufactured in ohio), the spa products are manufactured in germany. good luck finding one you love! megxx
