INSPIRATION ... PAUSE

hello!
highlights from my weekend: swimming in a warm pond twice, reading an entire issue of the sun cover to cover, eating ice cream, laughing with friends ... and noticing that i generally seem to be in some sort of valley where i am being taught life lessons on control and loss and where to put my energies. to that end, this photograph was another moment where i was walking, getting caught in the sprinkling rain, and for a moment in my head feeling unsure about getting wet ... looking down at the crooked bricks and seeing these beautiful pink flower petals, fallen from their tree or bush ... simple, quiet, dying but for a good cause {rain} ... reminding me of how brave i am ...
good day friends,
mav

beautiful post mav. i think learning to let go is a life-long process. how fortunate it is that you are able to recognize periods of growth for what they are. it's all part of the journey...you've only to live it out...as the magical soul you are! a healthy balance of laughter with friends and solitude will surely see you through! i'll be thinking of you today. hugs!

really lovely, encouraging post, maria.

i always get really melancholy when i read the sun. it is in part the content and the images, but also, i interviewed for a job there about 12 years ago and didn't get it (it came down to a timed typing test and i bombed it). i often wonder what path my life would have taken had i gotten the job. as you'd imagine, they were the kindest, most open staff. my roommate and i saved all my phone messages from the editor Sy Safransky because he just had the most wonderful way of speaking, totally charming. anyway, here's to bravery!

Oh, Mav, such a lovely post :)
I agree with all of the above.
This newest issue of The Sun is my favorite in so very long. Mostly because I am a softy and the under riding theme of love, relationship, interconnectdness was a breath of fresh air in this hot Summer.

Brave and beautiful, you are.

i don't have my glasses on at the moment, and when i first saw that photo i was like, "christ, what are those big pink roaches all over her doorstep?" and come to find out it's not your doorstep and they are flower petals. and you are brave, girl. love to you.
