BLUE SKY

« Previous   Main  Next »

well it would only make sense that the Pacific Northwest is balmy and beautiful while the rest of the country is being rained on! we have had such a lovely 3 days out at p2p west. eating breakfast on the porch and taking long walks. J's even out sailing this afternoon. it was due time after a long winter. i can honestly say that spring and summer are certainly sweeter after a hard winter.

in light of the new addition to the family. J and I have been on a serious house overall. 'we' have gutted the kitchen {i did design the new look...that must count for something} and are about 70% complete. give J about 2 weeks and great before and afters will hit the blog.

joining the renovation topic with the 'good design' topic....i think of that 'something happens' moment as the ah-hah moment. the ah-hah moment is even more powerful with the research and brainstorm preface. we had a major ah-hah moment with the kitchen. there are so many choices and directions with all areas of design, renovation design notwithstanding. and even though J & I know we are not big project fans...we really he took the path of more work for the sake of OUR design. we spent hours looking at dream kitchen and not only would the budget not allow...our hearts wouldn't either. we wanted our kitchen to be unique and most importantly utilitarian. we could not stomach the 'box' remodel...our house is too old to look up to date. we also know our house is not just too old but is without strong architectural elements. J took the challenge and has constructed our plan...it's looking great. even better is it's OURS.

so my two cents about 'good design' ... it is when you are connected to the piece either physically from doing or visually from seeing, feeling that ah-hah moment deep in your chest.

off to exercise. wishing blue skies across the states.
