UPDATES!

« Previous   Main  Next »

good morning to you.
... inspired by my own post on Whip Up {hee hee} i decided to commit to updating my inspiration wire this weekend. i just love doing it because some items stay, some go and just like that, the mood in my workshop room is shifted. i was especially excited to get up the images of flowers {closeups} from my British Country Living {probably my favorite magazine from the Brits}. they are bright & absolutely amazing. and this past issue of BCL has a really fantastic article about the owners of papa stour. i have torn out a page from that {you can see it in the bottom photo, middle}. it is all just gorgeous, simple ... a tall stack of magazines & books ... well, you know how i like that! am i getting predictable?

at any rate, the moment i got up the new tearsheets and paper bits on the inspiration wire, my work changed for the rest of the weekend. in fact, on a project i am working on {which i can't wait to show you} the entire color palate changed! it was thrilling.

and making my heart go pitter-patter this weekend ... being able to pair my work with such an amazing artist as karin eriksson. i'm smiling from ear to ear.

busy today starting the week. what did you get done from your list this weekend? or did you just chill out? that sounds just as nice!
good day, mav

I spent the weekend pretty much just chilling out.. much needed, though.

On Sunday I managed to get some work done on my application piece, for applying to the graphic design BA program. ( It's a miniportfolio of sorts, although I am making it very scrapbook-like, since the technique and format are completely free) Three weeks to go. Yikes!

hi mav,
i'm going to have to check out British Country Living. Your tear sheets are fantastic and I love seeing your updated inspiration wire! always a joy!

it's a good thing I took Friday off to paint, turns out it was the only time I had. The weekend was filled with lots of fun little treats (cute new haircut, drinks with girlfriends, seeing Capote, delicious Sunday night dinner, a gorgeous snow storm), but it was also really busy and made me and my husband feel rushed, stressed and exhausted. Which is not how a weekend should feel! Hopefully things will calm down shortly!

shanna, hi!! i can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve. it is so hard to decide what to put up but always nice to remember that it is a rotating crew of goodness. hugs!

abigail: you are too sweet. i am telling you that the time spent on reworking inspiration is so worth it! keep me posted.

katie: busy weekends can be stressful, can't they? i really love feeling rested after the weekend but it was certainly rare when i knew more people in my town and was running like you were. but it all sounds SO fun!!! :)

I LOVE Country Living, if only I'd known the last one had something about Papa Stour, I'd have got it. I tend to restrict myself to the Christmas one and one in summer, although the odd few slip in here and there.

Had a chilled weekend (apart from discovering a lovely fabric shop and getting excited!), but speaking of Whip Up, I made a felt ball after reading how easy there were to make.

Spent the weekend shopping for hardwood flooring for our new home... so many options so many colors... I'm finding I like the deep, dark tones even when it's on a common grain like red oak. Beautiful options to choose from. Also, been meaning to tell you that you inspired me to re-design my blog... I'm not very familiar w/code so it was time consuming, but well worth it! Thanks for asking all the right questions. Happy Monday!

mandy: wahoo! i have folders & binders of images too but it is so nice to get them out in the open sometimes. go for it!

katherine: restricting magazines is a good idea indeed. i have cut back on the ones i get but with the British Country Living i just have to get them all ... indulgence but well worth it for me. glad you had a chill weekend! i am in love with felt balls. i have to get on that myself.

diane: hi! how wonderful. thank you for letting me know about the blog redesign. i bet deciding on hardwoods is tough. there must be so many that are lovely. have fun!

thanks all for commenting!!

Your forthcoming collaboration sounds wonderfully exciting. LJ & I love collaborating with one another, it has become a natural, organic means of working for us... it also challenges us to create artwork that is outside our comfort zone. We are currently collaborating with a spoken word artist in Berlin on a small zine via trusty email - which is further stretching the realm of what is comfortable. I'm looking forward, as always, to seeing what you two create! Have a wonderfully productive week (I love reading your posts)... Cheers, g

how beautiful... i've had my inspiration line on the walls for years now... kind of a way of manifesting, or simply reminding the self of beautiful things.

but i have to admit... this is the most beautiful inspiration line i believe i've ever seen... although everyone's line is a beautiful thing in itself.

and absolute dream...

I love this wire and the mini pegs, so inspirational...can you give me some ideas on how to put one up myself? (the things on the sides to hold the wire up)
